Connecticu­t Sun announce 2021 WNBA schedule

The WNBA released its 2021 schedule on Tuesday, and the Connecticu­t Sun will open their 16game home schedule against the Phoenix Mercury on Sunday, May 16 at Mohegan Sun Arena.

The game will be the first played at the Sun in 551 days, the last one Game 4 of the WNBA Finals on Oct. 8, 2019.

The WNBA played its entire 2020 season in the bubble at IMG Academy in Bradenton, Fla., due to COVID-19 concerns.

Informatio­n about tickets and how many fans will be allowed to attend games this season will be announced soon.

Connecticu­t will open its season on the road, visiting the Atlanta Dream on Friday, May 14, at 7:30 p.m.

The schedule will include a month-long break (mid-July to mid-August) while WNBA members participat­e in the 2021 Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan.
