St. Bernard edges Griswold on Satti’s RBI single in 10th

No.5 Waterford rolls to victory over Ledyard

Montville — Guiseppi Satti singled home Joe Basso in the bottom of the eighth inning to give St. Bernard a 2-1 win over Griswold in an Eastern Connecticu­t Conference Division II baseball game on Tuesday afternoon.

Basso had led off the inning with a doubled and was bunted over to third by Aiden Whitten.

Ethan Chavez earned the win for the Saints (4-3, 4-3) by allowing only one run on two hits with nine strikeouts over 7.1 innings. Griswold is 4-2, 4-2.

In other games:

• Connor Podeswa had a double and three runs as Waterford beat Ledyard, 11-5, in an ECC Division I game. Ryan Salvador had a single, run and an RBI and Conner Rowe had two hits and two runs for Waterford (7-0, 6-0), ranked fifth in the GameTimeCT/New Haven Register poll.

Evan McCue added a single and two RBI and Mason Concasia scored twice. Braydon Wuestner had two runs and an RBI, Julian Munitmuri had three hits and an RBI and Jake Viteritto doubled and scored for the Colonels (2-4, 2-4). Also, Zion Fraser and Walker Lenz both singled and scored and Ethan Petrowski had a single and an RBI.

• Anthony Franco pitched a one-hitter with nine strikeouts and no earned runs and added a run and an RBI at the plate as Fitch beat Stonington, 5-2, in an ECC Division I game.

Cam McGugan went 3-for-4, including two doubles, with a run and an RBI for Fitch (4-1, 4-1) and Alex DelCampo added two hits, including a double, with two RBI. Tate Scherer added a single and two runs. Alex Starr singled and scored for the Bears (0-7, 0-7) and Bobby Dimock scored.

• Norwich Free Academy rallied from a 7-1 deficit and defeated New London, 10-9 in ECC Div. I. Jake Savage singled in the winning run in the bottom of the seventh with two outs and the bases loaded for the Wildcats (7-1, 6-1).

Savage went 3-for-5 with three RBI. Ryan Deshefy, Ty Pomroy and Griffin Pontbriant each had two hits for NFA.

Gio Galatioto, Ryan Gardiner, and Anthony Rivera had two hits apiece for the Whalers (0-8, 0-7).

• Randy Vidal pitched a one-hit shutout and Grasso Tech blanked Windham Tech 6-0 in the Connecticu­t Technical Conference.

Johancy Baez had three hits for the Eagles.

• Woodstock Academy defeated Lyman Memorial, 11-1, in an ECC Division II game shortened to five innings.

Daylan Griffin hit an RBI single for the Bulldogs (2-4, 2-4).
