Old Saybrook — Lynn Niero Bohlke, longtime resident of Old Saybrook, passed away Thursday, April 29, 2021. Born Jan. 3, 1944, in Englewood, N.J., Lynn was the daughter of the late Theodore G. Niero and Elizabeth (Frosco) Niero.

Lynn attended Trenton State College, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in elementary education and library science. Lynn first taught elementary school in Ramapo, N.Y., and then continued as a substitute teacher for many years in the Old Saybrook and Westbrook public schools, while raising her family. She was also a longtime librarian at the Acton Public Library in Old Saybrook. In 1966, Lynn married the love of her life, her husband Wesley K. Bohlke. Lynn will be remembered for her love of books, history, politics, trips to Maine and her faith. She was a loyal parishione­r of St. John’s Catholic Church in Old Saybrook, where she taught kindergart­en religious education for many years. Above all else, Lynn found her joy in spending time with family and friends, especially her cherished grandchild­ren.

She will be greatly missed by her devoted husband of 55 years, Wesley “Toby,” and her children, Tom Bohlke (Lara) of Newington, Karen Naccarato (Vincent) of Westbrook, and Joan Kaijala (Timothy) of Cumberland Center, Maine.

Lynn is survived by her seven grandchild­ren: Andrew, Vincent, Joseph, Michael, Katherine, Theodore and Kai Lynn; and two sisters, Cynthia Prusiecki of Palatine, Ill., and Gail Bohlke of Nyack, N.Y.

Calling hours will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 7, at Swan Funeral Home, located at 1224 Boston Post Road, Old Saybrook. A funeral Mass will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 8, at St. John’s Catholic Church, located at 161 Main

St., Old Saybrook. Burial will follow immediatel­y at Cypress Cemetery located on College Street, Old Saybrook. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Friends of Acton Public Library, 60 Old Boston Post Road, Old Saybrook, CT 06475.
