Waterford — Helen Winkler, 93, passed away peacefully at Greentree Manor Nursing & Rehabilita­tion Center on April 28, 2021. She was born Jan. 20, 1928, in Lebanon to Stanley and Alexandra Yorczyk.

Helen was a loving mother, grandmothe­r, great-grandmothe­r, wife, daughter, sister, sister-in-law and friend. Whatever season or holiday it was, you always knew that her house would be fully and beautifull­y decorated for the occasion. Helen loved this time of year, when she could get out in the garden to start planting her flowers. She would spend hours designing her garden, transformi­ng it into a beautiful arboretum. Helen was a kind, gentle woman who saw the best in everyone she met. She had a good sense of humor and made whomever she was with feel welcome. Helen had a way of touching everyone she met and she will be missed by all.

Helen worked for a number of years at the American Optical Company and also the consignmen­t shop Love Me Two Times, both located in Norwich.

In addition to her mother and father, she was predecease­d by her in-laws, Edith and David W. Winkler; her husband, Raymond Winkler; her two brothers, Edward and Raymond Yorczyk; her two sisters, Ida Barnhart and Madeline Bracelli; her brotherin-law David W. Winkler II; and her niece Angela McGovern.

Helen is survived by her son and daughter-in-law David S. and Marcia Winkler; her daughter Rita Lenkiewicz; her grandchild­ren Teena Timmer and Joseph Winkler; her great-grandson Alek Timmer; her sister Wanda Sylvia; her sister-in-law Kate Winkler; and her many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be held from 11 a.m. to noon May 7, 2021, with memorial service directly following at noon at Woyasz & Son Funeral, 11 Jerome Road, Uncasville.
