Norwich — Edward R. Goode Sr., 78, a longtime Norwich resident, died peacefully Tuesday, May 11, 2021.

Born Dec. 29, 1942 in Norwich, he was the son of Raymond Isaac Goode and Elizabeth (Brown) Goode and the loving husband of the late Deborah (Lamon) Goode.

Edward grew up in Norwich and was a graduate of Norwich Free Academy class of 1961, where he played baseball and was a member of the marching band. His love of sports and music became a lifelong passion.

Edward worked for 47 years at Electric Boat in Groton as a structural inspector.

He is survived by his children, Edward R. Goode II and Candace Goode; as well as three brothers, James Johnson of New Hampshire, Clayton Ford of Bridgeport and Nathaniel Lewis of Norwich. Additional­ly, he is survived by four grandchild­ren, William Holder, Janelle Marcum, Elijah Goode, and Danielle Goode.

In addition to his wife, he was predecease­d by siblings, Richard Goode, Mary Goode Whitlock, Beverly Goode Lowe, Leona Goode, Laura Howard, and Larry and Nathan Johnson; as well as a grandchild, Richard Goode.

A calling hour will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, May 17, at the Woyasz & Son Funeral Home, 141 Central Ave., Norwich. A graveside service will follow at 11:30 a.m. at Maplewood Cemetery, 184 Salem Turnpike, Norwich.
