Shirley Jewell

Norwich — Shirley (LeBeau) Jewell, 88, passed away Jan. 27, 2022. She was born in Putnam, Aug. 19, 1933, the daughter of Lionel and Simone (Bourque) LeBeau.

Shirley was married to Everett Jewell May 4, 1952. They were married for 60 years until Everett passed away in 2012. She was also predeceased by their son Mark Jewell; son-in-law Gerald Stefon; her sister Barbara Gendreau; and her brother Donald LeBeau. Shirley is survived by her daughter Linda Stefon; sons, Attorney Michael Jewell (wife Donna) and Attorney Patrick Jewell (wife Katherine); eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Shirley graduated from Putnam Catholic Academy in 1951. She worked for RL & G Insurance Agency, formerly in Franklin, as an insurance agent, retiring in the mid1990s. Over the years, she enjoyed traveling with her husband throughout Europe, Mexico, Canada, on Caribbean cruises and across the USA.

Shirley was a beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed singing, dancing, and performing in St. Mary’s Church (Greenville) fundraising musical productions in the 1970s. She was an avid reader. Shirley loved her family and looked forward to attending our frequent gatherings. She also had longtime friendships that she held dear from her childhood, neighborhood and work.

A Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Feb. 12, at Sacred Heart Church in Taftville. The Guillot Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements. There are no calling hours.
