— Joyce Ann Hudson, 88, of Waterford entered eternal rest June 9, 2022, at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital of New London. She was born Aug. 17, 1933, in Colesburg, Iowa, daughter of Howard and Helen (Schroeder) Groth.

Joyce lived a full life. She traveled throughout the United States, during her lifetime and made countless lifelong friends. She retired from the Electric Boat U.K. Trident Program as an administrative assistant. She was a member of the EBMA and a devout member of the Mystic Congregational Church.

Joyce is survived by her son Mark Hudson and her daughter-in-law Lynn of Waterford; as well as her daughter Lisa Gheringhelli and her son-inlaw Ron of Murrells Inlet, S.C. Joyce is also survived by her two granddaughters, whom she cherished, Jessica Hudson and Katherine Hudson-Gallagher;

as well as her husband Ryan. Finally, Joyce is survived by her sisters, June Hodges of Texas, and Esther Stoll of Iowa. She was preceded in death by her sister Merla Lehmann of Iowa.

In accordance with our mother’s wishes, there will be no public service and arrangements are private. She only asks that her many family members and friends give a smile, share a hug and extend a kind gesture to someone in need. Our family also offers our gratitude to the staff of Lawrence + Memorial Hospital, especially those working at the CCU and floor 5.2, who lovingly cared for Joyce during her last days. Joyce’s kind spirit will always remain in our hearts.
