Nina Bochese

-

Norwich — Nina Bochese, 91, of Norwich, died peacefully Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2022. Born in Apollo, Pa., Dec. 18, 1930, she was the daughter of the late George Roy Milliron and Grace Elizabeth Hilty Milliron. On July 3, 1953, she was united in marriage to her loving husband of 67 years, Pete Bochese, who predeceased her in 2021.

Nina was the oldest of her six siblings, taking care of them when her mother passed away at a young age. She graduated from Washington Township High school in 1948. After school, she worked many different jobs, with her most notable as making hand grenades during the Korean War and bottling whiskey at the Schenley Distillery, then as a cook at Huntington Home in Norwich, and Fairview in Groton. In her later years, she became a devoted housewife.

Second to loving her husband and family, Nina could be found in the kitchen and watching cooking shows, along with “Jeopardy!” and “Wheel of Fortune.” You could never visit her without her offering you something to eat. She loved making her family recipe of polenta and chicken. She taught her sons and grandchildren how to cook, bake chocolate chip cookies and make her infamous pizzelle cookies.

She leaves behind her two sons, Peter (Douglas) Bochese of Norwich, and Jeffrey Bochese and spouse Robin of Preston; also, four grandchildren: Jonathan (Julie) Bochese, Derek Bochese, Jake Bochese and Brooke Bochese; along with many great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by Pete Bochese, George Roy Milliron, Grace Milliron, Ella Mae Bochese, Patricia Causey, Paul Milliron, Margaret George, George Thomas Milliron and Danny Milliron.

There are no calling hours. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
