Niantic — Lennan E. “Len” Farquhar, age 75, of Niantic, passed away Saturday, Jan. 21, 2023, at Lawrence + Memorial Hospital in New London. He was born in Nashua, N.H., on Oct. 26, 1947, the son of David Farquhar Jr. and Katherine MacLennan Farquhar. Len was married to Drucilla Warren on June 23, 1973.

Len graduated from Robert E. Fitch Senior High School and UConn. He had attended Mitchell College and AIC in Springfiel­d, Mass. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Era at Fort Dix in New Jersey, processing soldiers out of the service. For many years he was the head baseball coach at Mitchell College as well as the assistant admissions director. He loved sports especially the Celtics, Patriots, Red Sox and any team playing the Yankees.

Besides his wife Dru, he is survived by two daughters, Christina Post (Scott) of Mystic, and Elizabeth Borysewicz (Andrew) of Noank; his brother Donald S. Farquhar of Gales Ferry; and five grandchild­ren: Connor and Brenna Post, Nolan, Warren and Claire Borysewicz. He was predecease­d by his brother David Farquhar III.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 28, at St. Agnes Church, 22 Haigh Ave., Niantic. Interment will be private. Visiting hours will be held from 4 until 6 p.m. Friday, Jan. 27, at the Byles-Groton Memorial Home, 310 Thames St. In lieu of flowers, donations in Len’s memory may be directed to Hope In Focus, P.O.
