Northborough, Mass. — Frances Anderson, 85, of Northborough, Mass., formerly of Waterford, and Syracuse, N.Y., passed away Feb. 3, 2023. Frances Elizabeth Cole was born Sept. 25, 1937, in Syracuse, the daughter of the late Wilfred and Clarissa Cole.

She graduated from Onondaga Valley Academy and worked at Niagara Mohawk Power Corp. She was wed Oct. 3, 1959, to James Bernard Anderson, who predeceased her in 1987. In later years she worked at Sears Corp. in Waterford before retiring.

Frances was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother who loved travel, dear friends, her colleagues in the workplace, music and her dogs, Shamus and Clancy. Through thick and thin, she was the rock of the family and instilled in her children a deep respect for life’s joys and sorrows and for our fellow human beings. She treasured each moment, be it a trip to Scotland or visits to Savannah, Ga., and Colorado to be with family. She especially treasured taking frequent long walks by the ocean in Connecticut. She had a ready smile and laugh for everyone she met. She is and will forever be missed.

Survivors include her sons, James M. Anderson and his wife, Juliana Greco, of Denver; and Scott W. Anderson of Savannah; daughters, Cheryl Lee (Anderson) Pelli and her husband John, of Savannah, and Karena Marie (Anderson) Hansen and her husband Erik, of Northborough; her grandchildren, Madeleine Pelli and Connor, Ellyna and Caden Hansen; niece Susan Williams, of Branchburg, N.J.; and nephew Brad Cole, of Mountainside, N.J. She is predeceased by her brother William Cole.
