Constance Kmetz
Stonington — Constance “Connie” (Crowley) Kmetz of Morgan Street, Pawcatuck, passed away at her home surrounded by her loving family Friday, Feb. 24, 2023, at the age of 89. She was the wife of the late William H. Kmetz Sr., who predeceased her in 1989. Born in Wequetequock, she was daughter of the late J. Leo and Catherine Crowley.
Connie was a switchboard operator supervisor for the Westerly Hospital for 35 years until her retirement. She was a devoted Catholic with a strong faith in God and family and a lifelong communicant of St. Michael the Archangel Church. Some of her greatest joys were Sunday dinners with her family, summer days at Misquamicut State Beach, and all of her children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events and school activities.
She will be lovingly remembered by her eight children: Margaret (Bill) Gledhill, William (Karen) Kmetz, Kathy (Phil) Daubney, Barbara (Bruce) Fisher, David (Ursula) Kmetz, Trisha (Dan) Campbell, Beth (Patrick) Lawrence and Kristin (Dennis) Bliven; 15 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two siblings, Michael Crowley and Patricia (Pidge) Crowley; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by 10 brothers and sisters.
Relatives and friends will be received at visiting hours from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 27, at Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce Street, Westerly. A Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Michael Church, 60 Liberty Street, Pawcatuck. There is no procession from the funeral home to the church.
