— Arthur M. Moretti, 78, of Niantic, passed away in the early morning hours of Thursday, March 2, 2023, at Bride Brook Rehabilita­tion Center. He valiantly and courageous­ly fought a very difficult battle in trying to overcome the many health issues he suffered. We, his family, will miss him terribly and his ever-present welcoming smile. We take comfort in the knowledge that he is no longer suffering or in pain any longer.

Arthur was born Nov. 8, 1944, in Norwich, son of Arthur M. Moretti Sr. and Antoinette (Sabatino) Moretti. Survivors include his wife Paulette J. (Arpin) Moretti whom he married June 17, 1967; a daughter, Christine M. Moretti, and her husband Christophe­r Ryley of Salem; a son, Dean M. Moretti, of Niantic; a granddaugh­ter, Sara M. Silva of San Diego, Calif.; a brother, Thomas Moretti; a sister, Barbara Hominski; sisters-in-law, Charlene Hawley and Victoria Yale; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Mr. Moretti attended St. Mary’s Elementary School and Norwich Free Academy. He served honorably in the United States Marine Corps from 1961 to 1966. His various interest and hobbies included golf, baking, woodworkin­g and boating. He was an avid NFL fan and enjoyed watching all football games when “in season,” even attending several games in New York and Massachuse­tts.

Arthur was employed in sales for Autocrat Coffee Co., Garelick Farms, Inc., and Better Brands. He also owned and operated his own business known as “Sunrise Coffee Service” and was semi-retired working for the Town of Waterford transporti­ng special needs students to their schools.

The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, March 5, at the Thomas L. Neilan & Sons Funeral Home, 48 Grand St., Niantic. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, March 6, at St. Matthias Church, Chesterfie­ld Road, East Lyme.
