Mora announces 10 transfers added to UConn football team

– UConn head football coach Storrs Jim Mora announced the Huskies have added 10 transfer student-athletes who will join the Huskies for the spring semester. The 10 new players join the previously announced six transfers and 12 incoming freshmen headed to UConn for the 2024 season.

Reggie Akles (defensive back, Portland, Ore.): Played at New Mexico State and will be a senior with one year of eligibilit­y remaining Made 25 tackles and 19 solo stops while also returning kicks.

Skyler Bell (wide receiver, Bronx, N.Y.): Joins the Huskies from the University of Wisconsin and has two seasons of eligibilit­y remaining Was second on the team with 38 receptions for 296 yards and one touchdown, Caught a season-best seven passes against Northweste­rn and had a five catch game, including a touchdown, at Washington State.

Jasaiah Gathings (wide receiver, Statesvill­e, N.C.): Played at Akron in 2023 and has two seasons of eligibilit­y remaining Led Akron with 55 catches, finished the season with 575 yards receiving and a touchdown while averaging 10.5 yards per reception.

Chris Freeman (kicker, Zionsville, Ind.): Kicked at Indiana University and has two seasons of eligibilit­y remaining. Was 10-of-14 on field goal attempts with a long of 50 yards.

Logan Frederic (long snapper , Littleton, Colo.): Comes from Texas Christian and has three seasons of eligibilit­y remaining.

Aaron Key (linebacker, Decatur, Ga.): Joins the Huskies from Western Kentucky and will have two years of eligibilit­y remaining. Made 29 tackles, 17 solo, and 1.5 tackles for a loss.

Malachi McLean (defensive back, Manvel, Texas): Played the last two season at New Mexico State and has two years of eligibilit­y remaining. Appeared in 10 games at safety and made 12 tackles including 3.0 for a loss and a fumble recovery.

Durell Robinson (running back, Seat Pleasant, Md.): Comes to UConn from UNC Charlotte as a redshirt freshman and has four seasons of eligibilit­y remaining. Played in four games for the 49ers and carried the ball 40 times in four games, finishing with 166 yards and a touchdown.

Julien Simon (linebacker, Tacoma, Wash.): Played last season at Tulsa and has two years of eligibilit­y remaining. Transferre­d to Tulsa for at USC. Second for Tulsa in total tackles with 58, 24 solo, with 10.0 tackles for loss and 2.5 sacks on the season.

Jarvarius Sims (defensive back, Decatur, Ga): Played the last two seasons at Central Michigan and has two seasons of eligibilit­y remaining. Had 23 total tackles and 16 solo last season.
