Waterford — With deepest sorrow, we announce that Yianni Longinidis, 27, our most beloved son, brother, grandson, family member and friend passed suddenly Sunday, March 10, 2024, after a tragic accident. Those who knew Yianni, even just a little, lost a shining light in their lives.

Yianni will be fiercely missed and always loved by his mother Maria Longinidis; his father Trifonas Longinidis; his sister Nina Longinidis; his loving stepparents, Joseph Buonocore and Smagrada Longinidis; his grandmother Janina; aunts, Felia, Vasiliki, and Barbara, uncle Harry and aunt Susie; cousins, Gary, Sophia, Stefanie, Stacey, Niko and Dawn, Yianni, Socrates, Amy; his girlfriend Rose; and many extended family members and many, many great friends.

We know Yianni is now with his grandparents Yianni Longindis, and Efstathios and Efstratia Ballis; his aunts Catherine and Eleni Ballis; his cousin Lisa; and his beloved dog Shadow, whom he recently lost. Yianni is loved here on earth as well as in heaven.

Yianni made an instant impact on everyone who met him. He had a contagious smile, and he always made you laugh when you were in his presence. He was the glue to most relationships, becoming the conduit that brought his various friends together. Yianni had such a huge heart, and had compassion for everyone he met. He never succumbed to gossip; instead he found the good in everyone around him. He was always there to lend a helpful hand to anyone in need. Yianni was an honest, young man with strong moral principles and integrity.

Yianni graduated Waterford High School in 2014, and went on to gain his degree in Business from Mitchell College in 2018. He excelled in soccer, competing at both the high school and collegiate levels, where his skill on the field made him a formidable player, and allowed him to assist his Mitchell College Soccer team to win the NECC title in 2017. He worked alongside his mother and sister at the NV Bakery and Market, undertaking his management duties with confidence and dedication. He adored his customers and the staff at the bakery; and everyone remembers being greeted by his infectious smile any time they visited. In his spare time, Yianni loved spending time with his friends and family, dominating the soccer field, boating, dirt biking, fishing, and living life to the fullest. He was legendary on the dance floor, and was famous for winning races in the pool. Yianni was unmatched in his ability to connect people together and an example of generosity to everyone.

We will love and miss you so much until we meet again. You remain the brightest star in our lives as you now live in our hearts.
