‘PETER RABBIT’ PUPPET SHOW MARCH 17
The East Lyme Puppetry Project will give a performance of “Peter Rabbit” from 2 to 3 p.m. today at the East Lyme Community Center. Tickets are $7 per person.

WESTERLY MORRIS MEN CELEBRATE EQUINOX
The Westerly Morris Men will celebrate the Vernal Equinox at 6:51 a.m. Tuesday, March 19, on the summit of Lantern Hill in North Stonington. This marks the moment when the sun lies directly above the equator, generally referred to as the first day of spring.

COAST GUARD CONCERT AT 2 P.M. MARCH 24
At 2 p.m. Sunday, March 24 at Leamy Hall at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy, the U.S. Coast Guard Band presents a free concert, “Everything Under the Moon.” New London NAACP Vice President Tamara Lanier will be guest speaker, and Chief Warrant Officer Jeffrey Spenner hosts a pre-concert talk from 1 to 1:30 p.m.
The program celebrates modern works by a diverse array of composers. The high-spirited “Fanfare Politeia” by Kimberly Archer opens the concert, followed by Sousa’s “The Gridiron Club March.” The soothing “Sleep and Repose: The Coming of Light” from Roshanne Etezady’s Anahita contrasts Ginastera’s thrilling “Danza Final” from Estancia. Next on the program is a set of love songs by Steven Bryant and Antonín Dvorák featuring soprano Musician 1st Class Allison Landstedt. The concert comes to a jazzy, soulful conclusion with Kevin Day’s Concerto for Wind Ensemble.

ECLIPSE, TRIVIA NIGHT FOR ALL AGES AT EAST LYME PUBLIC LIBRARY
A total eclipse of the sun and a special trivia event are among activities slated over the next few weeks at East Lyme Public Library.
Trivia Night will be held 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 26. Come by yourself or with family or friends and test yourself against others in many fun general categories.
From 2 to 4 p.m. Monday, April 8, all ages are invited to celebrate the solar eclipse with FREE eclipse glasses as well as indoor and outdoor activities at East Lyme Public Library.

East Lyme Public Library will hold a series of book discussion groups this month.
A Men’s Book Group will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 27, to discuss “The Wingmen” by Adam Lazarus. Copies of the current month’s book are available at the library. No registration necessary.
Mystery Book Group will meet at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 28, to mull over “No Strangers Here” by Carlene O’Connor. Copies of the current month’s book are available at the library. No registration necessary.
The Silent Book Group will meet from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, March 25. Bring your own book and enjoy the community of fellow readers in a quiet atmosphere

SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATIONS SOUGHT
North Stonington Garden Club has begun accepting applications from 2024 Anna Coit Memorial Scholarship applicants. The $2,000 scholarship is granted annually to a high school graduating senior pursuing higher education in Agriculture, Conservation, Environmental Studies, Horticulture, Landscape, Design/ Architecture, Plant Science, or a related field.
Applicants must reside in towns from which the Club draws its membership. Currently these are North Stonington, Bozrah, Groton, Ledyard, Mystic, New London, Noank, Norwich, Pawcatuck, Preston, Sterling, Stonington, and Waterford as well as Ashaway, Charleston and Westerly, R.I.

EAST LYME KID, TEEN ACTIVITIES AT LIBRARY
Take-and-Make craft kits are available on the first Friday of the month at East Lyme Public Library. Kits are designed for children ages 4-8 to create at home. Supplies are limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis. Stop by the Children’s Room to pick up your kit while supplies last.
Storytime for All Ages is held Tuesdays 10:30 to 11 a.m. Read, sing, and dance with Miss Rebecca during this popular program for little ones. This fun program includes books, flannel board stories, fingerplays, puppets, and parachute play.
GOLF TOURNAMENT FUNDRAISER FOR UCFS
UCFS Healthcare is hosting the 2024 Annual UCFS Golf Tournament on Monday, June
24, at Stonington Country Club. Registration starts at 11:30 a.m. with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. All proceeds help to further UCFS’ mission of improving the health and well-being of the community.
