McILROY SAYS HE IS 100 PERCENT FOR PGA CHAMPIONSH­IP

sheboygan, wis.» Rory McIlroy said he’s 100 percent and that all parts of his game appear to be in order.

He was talking about golf for the PGA Championsh­ip — not his foray into soccer, which led to the world’s No. 1 player being out since the U.S. Open.

McIlroy injured his left ankle playing around on a soccer field with his friends in Northern Ireland the first weekend in July. He showed up at Whistling Straits on Saturday and has been playing without apparent pain.

Thursday will mark McIlroy’s first competitiv­e round since the U.S. Open.

Oregon RB out for season.

Oregon running back Thomas Tyner is out for fall camp and is expected to miss the season after shoulder surgery.

Coach Mark Helfrich confirmed that Tyner would not take part in fall camp. Players confirmed that Tyner had surgery on his left shoulder and his return this season was doubtful.

Tyner appeared in 11 games last season, gaining 573 yards and scoring five touchdowns.

• Former Utah cornerback Dominique Hatfield is cleared to stay in school but not return to the Utes. He was dismissed from the team in July after he was charged with aggravated robbery and theft.

• Oklahoma offensive tackle Kenyon Frison was suspended indefinite­ly from the team for an unspecifie­d rules violation.

• Marshall dismissed wide receiver Angelo Jean-Louis, who last season as a freshman caught 21 passes for 490 yards and six touchdowns. The reason for his dismissal was not announced.

• Alabama and Louisville will meet at the Orlando Citrus Bowl stadium to kick off the 2018 season.

Kane investigat­ion revealed.

A person familiar with the police investigat­ion of Chicago Blackhawks star Patrick Kane told The Associated Press that it involves something that happened between the player and a woman in her 20s.

• The New York Rangers signed former Los Angeles Kings center Jarret Stoll to a one-year, $800,000 contract, giving him a second chance a few months after he pleaded guilty to reduced charges in a cocaine case.

• The NHL Players’ Associatio­n filed a grievance on behalf of center Mike Richards, contesting the terminatio­n of his contract by the Kings.

• The St. Louis Blues said forward Jori Lehtera would be sidelined for six to eight weeks after recent surgery on his right ankle.

Sterling files lawsuit.

Los Angeles billionair­e Donald Sterling sued celebrity website TMZ and former girlfriend V. Stiviano over a recording of off-color remarks that cost him ownership of the NBA’s Clippers, claiming they violated his privacy by illegally recording a private conversati­on and broadcasti­ng it.

• The Boston Celtics waived guardforwa­rd Zoran Dragic, who played for the Miami Heat and Phoenix Suns last season.

L.A. Olympic bid: $4.1 billion.

If the city of Los Angeles becomes the U.S. candidate for the 2024 Olympics after Boston’s recent drop from contention, the organizers’ proposed budget for the Summer Games would be $4.1 billion plus a $400 million contingenc­y, a senior adviser to Mayor Eric Garcetti said.

The sum includes $200 million to cover city expenses, Jeff Millman said.

The city’s projection anticipate­s revenues far in excess of $4.5 billion and a significan­t profit, Millman said.

Rio rowers become ill.

Thirteen rowers on the 40-member U.S. team came down with stomach illness at the World Junior Rowing Championsh­ips in Rio de Janeiro — a trial run for next summer’s Olympics — and the team doctor said she suspected it was because of pollution in the lake where the competitio­n took place.
