The holdout on the Holmes jury

- Bonnie Montgomery, Steve Sinn, Curt Alfrey, Cynthia Stone,

Congratulations to the people who wanted James Holmes kept alive, for whatever reasons. He will now be well cared for, fed, clothed, get medical care and visits with family the rest of his life.

How ironic. His victims and survivors won’t have these luxuries. Now you have added extra pain to surviving victims as they, plus all of us by our taxes, will be keeping Holmes well cared for.

BBB I, too, have been a juror on a death penalty trial. We were asked in open court if we could render a death penalty conviction if the evidence warranted it. Everyone on the jury said yes. I am sure the Holmes jurors were asked the same thing. So one juror might have lied during the selection process.

In my trial experience, the killer was sentenced to death, then his sentence was commuted to life without parole. He was paroled seven years later. Holmes may walk free one day because a dishonest bleeding heart juror held out for life instead of doing the right thing.

BBB The jury has a job and a function like everybody else involved in the trial. They’re given evidence to consider and instructions on how to consider it. They are told the rules and what they can and can’t do. And when they announce their verdict, it’s their verdict. They deserve our gratitude for taking this important job on. Thank you, jurors, and welcome back to your lives.

BBB I am very concerned that all the talk of the “lone juror” whose refusal to give James Holmes the death penalty will lead to him or her being the subject of a witch hunt. I can’t imagine how he must feel to be vilified so publicly for steadfastly holding on to his conviction. Please leave this juror in peace. This was most likely the hardest decision he will ever make in his life.
