WOMAN KILLED IN HIT-AND-RUN
Breckenridge police are investigating a hit-and-run that left a young woman dead Monday night.
Investigators say the woman, who was in her 20s, was found dead about 11 p.m. along the 600 block of Airport Road.
“The preliminary onscene investigation indicates that the female victim was struck by a vehicle, which then left the scene,” police said in a news release. “The name of the victim is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.”
Police say their investigation is ongoing and they have no suspect or vehicle description.

Jefferson County confirms West Nile virus case.
Health officials in Jefferson County on Tuesday announced their first confirmed human case of West Nile virus this year.
“An unincorporated Jefferson County resident sought medical treatment after symptoms developed, was released and continues to recover at home,” the county’s health department said in a news release.
Officials say the person infected may have been exposed in southern Jefferson County.
As of Aug. 21, there were 17 human cases of the virus reported in Colorado this year.
Glendale 180 updates plans. Glendale unveiled
an updated conceptual design Tuesday of a planned $150 million dining and entertainment center, which will boast 25 bars and restaurants, a hotel and a “common consumption area” where adults can carry to-go alcoholic drinks within the complex.
Overall there will be 270,000 leasable square feet for restaurants and retail in Glendale 180, a project on the banks of Cherry Creek.
The project ran into difficulties this year when the owners of a carpet store at the corner of Virginia Avenue and Colorado Boulevard refused to sell their 6-acre parcel to the city. Glendale has since announced it can proceed with construction without that parcel.
Groundbreaking for Glendale 180 is expected to take place early next year. Ultralight pilot injured near Byers. A pilot of an ultralight aircraft was injured Tuesday in an incident near Byers, according to the Adams County Sheriff ’s Office.
The pilot, who suffered minor injuries, was flying over an area near East 64th Avenue and Calhoun Byers Road above hunters when an incident occurred, the sheriff’s office said.
The pilot was treated for minor injuries at the scene and released.
Hunters, shooting legally on private land, were in the immediate area.
An ongoing investigation will try to determine whether or not the aircraft or the pilot were shot.
“It has not been determined how the pilot was injured,” the sheriff’s office said in a media release.
Names of the people involved in the incident were not released.
Police investigate shooting death in northeast Denver. Police were investigating
a death in northeast Denver on Tuesday night.
Grape Street, between East 26th and 28th avenues, was shut down, according to a 9:10 p.m. tweet from the Denver Police Department. The investigation is in the 2700 block of Grape Street. No information about how the person may have died was released Tuesday.
