POLICE SUSPECT FOUL PLAY

-

greeley » Police believe foul play led to the disappearance of a 62- year- old man who has been missing for more than a month.

Investigators first began probing the case when they were called Dec. 8 to check on the well- being of Jose Dejesus Luna at a home in the 1900 block of Sixth Street.

“While checking Luna’s residence with the family members, officers observed suspicious evidence and circumstance and began a more intensive search of this missing person,” police said in a Thursday news release. “Luna’s car was also unaccounted for.”

Authorities say they believe Luna was last seen Nov. 30 when he did not report for work.

“He’s not the kind of person that normally takes off and doesn’t show up to work,” said Sgt. J. P. Tymkowych, a police spokesman. “He is a fairly solid person. Then all of a sudden, the family can’t find him.”

Luna’s car, a 1984 red Nissan Pulsar, has since been recovered, police said, but further details on where it was found were not released.

Anyone with information about Luna is asked to call Detective Robert Cash at 970- 350- 9601 or the Greeley Police Investigations Unit at 970- 350- 9670.

Additionally, Northern Colorado Crime Stoppers is working with the Greeley Police Department regarding this case, and tipsters can call 1- 800- 2228477.

Injured state trooper back at work. Nearly 21

months after he was seriously injured in a highprofile Front Range car chase captured on television news, Trooper Bellamann Hee has returned to duty.

The State Patrol announced Thursday that Hee, who underwent several surgeries after being struck by a suspect’s vehicle in the March 2014 pursuit, has been training for several weeks.

A patrol spokesman said Hee will be in a field training program before he returns to his full responsibilities.

In October, Ryan Stone was sentenced to 160 years in prison after being convicted in April of 18 charges, including attempted manslaughter, first- degree assault and child abuse.

During the chase, which spanned more than 60 miles from Longmont to Douglas County, Stone reached speeds of 100 mph while he raced over shoulders and sped toward oncoming traffic.

Hee was critically injured when Stone hit the trooper while driving at about 90 mph. Hee had deployed a device to deflate tires on the vehicle Stone was driving shortly before he was hit by the car.

Hee’s leg was shattered in 20 places. Had Hee been hit any other way, prosecutors said, he likely would have been killed.
