McADOO TAKES GIANTS’ REINS

east rutherford, n.j.» The Giants are hiring their offensive coordinato­r, Ben McAdoo, as their next head coach, a person familiar with the decision told The Associated Press.

The 38-year-old McAdoo is being given the job a little more than a week after Tom Coughlin stepped down after 12 seasons, the person spoke Wednesday on condition of anonymity because the team has not officially announced the hiring.

The Giants like what McAdoo has done with the offense.

The Bengals’ offensive coordinato­r, who waited four years for his second crack at leading an NFL team, was hired as Cleveland’s next coach — the struggling franchise’s eighth since 1999 and sixth since 2008.

Jackson, 50, finalized his deal Wednesday.

Pats’ Jones at hospital B foxborough, mass.» Patriots defensive lineman Chandler Jones is keeping a low profile before Saturday’s playoff game after he was taken to a hospital with an unspecifie­d medical emergency.

The Pro Bowl selection has not missed practice since showing up at a police station requesting help. But Jones was not present Wednesday during the team’s media availabili­ty.

The Boston Herald first reported that Jones was rushed to the hospital after showing up at the Foxborough police station. The Patriots confirmed Jones was admitted and released the same day.
