A cel­e­bra­tion of the life of Jonathon “J.P.” Parker, a long­time Den­ver ac­tor and staunch sup­porter of the arts, will be held Feb. 1. Parker died Dec. 19 at the Col­lier Hospice Cen­ter in Wheat Ridge. He was 87.

Parker es­tab­lished a life­long ca­reer in the­ater, span­ning more than 40 years, be­gin­ning at the Bon­fils Theatre. He was the fa­cil­i­ties man­ager at the Univer­sity of Den­ver’s New­man Cen­ter for Per­form­ing Arts, and the La­mont School of Mu­sic. Parker was a man­ager and pro­fes­sor at the for­mer Colorado Women’s Col­lege Hous­ton Fine Arts Cen­ter. He was the first tech­ni­cal di­rec­tor of his daugh­ter’s com­pany — Cleo Parker Robin­son Dance.

The cel­e­bra­tion will be held at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 1 at the Univer­sity of Den­ver, New­man Cen­ter, Gates Hall, 2344 E. Iliff Ave. in Den­ver.
