The family of a Conifer woman shot and killed by police in El Cajon, Calif., as she was riding in a stolen car says she was bright, fun and loving and never hurt anyone.

Kelsey Rose Hauser, who was wanted on felony drug charges out of Denver, was shot to death at 1:30 a.m. Saturday after police say the car’s driver sped toward a police officer.

“Our family is grieving, and there are no words to express the pain and sorrow we are experiencing following the sudden loss of our daughter Kelsey. We miss her immensely. She was bright and fun-loving.

“As a young adult, Kelsey had her problems; we did our best to help her work through these and see her fulfill her potential, but those hopes are now gone. Through it all, Kelsey was a good person. She had a kind heart, an easy smile, and she never hurt anyone,” the statement released Thursday says.

The statement says the family is working on an arrangement to bring her home.

The driver of the stolen car, Geoffrey H. Sims, 34, of Golden, was arrested for investigation of attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon on a police officer and felony evading, according to a news release by the El Cajon Police Department.

While there, Weber went into an enclosed crawl tunnel with his daughter and the victim, a stranger who was at the children’sthemed eatery with her father.

After “playing” with the children, Weber, his daughter, the victim, and the victim’s father, posed for a group picture in a Chuck E. Cheese photo booth. Englewood investigators were able to track Weber, in part, through the group photograph taken in the booth.
