MAN WHO LOST SON, HOME IN FIRE DIES

A man who lost his disabled son and home in a southwest Denver fire has died from injuries he suffered in the blaze, officials said Saturday.

Ralph Andrade III, 72, died Saturday at Denver Health Medical Center, where he had been hospitaliz­ed since the fatal fire on Jan. 12.

Days after the fire, Andrade’s sonin-law B.J. Purvis mourned the loss of Ralph Andrade IV and said that Ralph III was “in bad shape.”

The elderly man fell from a secondstor­y window in his home while trying to escape the flames. Purvis said his father-in-law had a head injury on top of pre-existing medical conditions.

Body of missing hiker found. The body of a missing metro area hiker was recovered near avalanche debris at St. Mary’s Glacier on Saturday, officials said.

Todd Musselman, 50, was found covered in snow, according to a Clear Creek County Sheriff’s Office news release. The sheriff’s office and Alpine Rescue had been searching for Musselman since Jan. 16. Police investigat­e fatal shooting

near Montbello park-n-Ride. Denver police are investigat­ing after a man was shot and killed in a shopping center parking lot Saturday near the Montbello park-n-Ride, 12300 Al brook Drive.

Police spokesman Sonny Jackson said an alteration between two groups broke out on the south end of the shopping center and moved north toward the RTD park-n-Ride.

Nate Currey, RTD spokesman, said a 25-year-old man got off a bus andwas shot about 20 feet from the bus around 5:30 p.m.

Theman, whowas alone, tried to crawl back toward the bus after hewas shot. Theman died from his injuries, Currey said.

Jackson said police do not believe the man killed was actually a passenger on the bus, but may have gotten on the bus briefly and then off again.

Jackson said he didn’t know how many shooters were involved.

Isaac Freyta, who was working the drive-through window at the Good Times Burgers & Frozen Custard in the shopping center, said he heard four shots over the drive-through speaker.

A Chrysler 200 and a green Ford SUV were stopped by police, who arrived on the scene quickly, Freyta said.

Several witnesses to the shooting were taken downtown to be questioned by police, Jackson said. Police also expanded the crime scene after a disturbanc­e broke out at a Shell gas station nearby.

Police did not release any suspect informatio­n Saturday night.
