BRONCOS CONTROL NAMING RIGHTS
It’s official: The Denver Broncos now control the naming rights to the Mile High stadium.
A bankruptcy court judge has signed off on the transfer of the naming rights to the team from Englewood-based Sports Authority. The failed retailer missed the Aug. 1 payment on its namingrights contract and asked the federal bankruptcy court to allow it to transfer the rights to the team. The estate of the company still must pay the Broncos $50,000 to be free and clear of all naming-rights debts.
The Broncos are still sizing up the value of a deal and say there’s no timetable for a new stadium name. The Associated Press
