Remembering Roscoe Davidson
“Davidson: school legend,” Aug. 23 obituary.
I was saddened to see the obituary for former Englewood schools superintendent Roscoe Davidson. I taught in Englewood schools, and during a term as president of Englewood Educators I had many occasions to learn what a fine man he was. One occasion in particular testifies to his thoughtfulness and consideration for others.
He and I were meeting at the home of Englewood School Board president Debbie Poole before going to a meeting downtown with Dr. Davidson as our driver. When the meeting was over and we returned to Ms. Poole’s house, it was snowing heavily. Dr. Davidson asked me to stay in his car and he got out and started my car and cleaned it off for me. He then followed me to my home and made sure I had safely gotten into my garage before heading home himself. What a gentleman. He will be missed.
