MOONLIGHT MOVIES

Just when you thought outdoor movies were over for the year, there’s a new series. The Movie on the Field series screens free outdoor movies at the Haunted Field of Screams (10270 Riverdale Road, Thornton), Colorado’s largest haunted attraction. Bring blankets and lawn chairs to enjoy a mix of horror movies and familyfriendly flicks throughout October. Here’s the schedule: Oct. 1 (starts at 7:45 p.m.), “Zombieland” and “Scream”; Oct. 9 (6:45 p.m.), “Hotel Transylvania”; and Oct. 16 (6:45 p.m.), “Beetlejuice.” Each movie will feature a concession stand with popcorn, candy, sodas, bottled water and more for sale. OPEN DOOR ON ARTS

Open Studios, Boulder’s annual fall artist tour, spans two weekends, Oct. 1-2 and Oct. 8-9, from noon to 6 p.m. each day. This free event features 100 studios, homes, garages and wherever else artists create their works. The working spaces of artists working in all media are not only in Boulder but also from Eldorado Springs to Nederland. GLOBAL FILM FESTIVAL

The 13th annual Indigenous Film & Arts Festival presents movies, lectures and an art exhibit created by indigenous peoples from around the world. This year’s festival runs from Oct. 5 to 10 at various venues across the metro area, including the Denver Museum of Nature & Science, History Colorado and University of Denver. All events are free. PUMPKIN PARTY

Carve out a fun afternoon at Fitzsimons Credit Union’s Community Fall Fests on Oct. 7 and 8. Both events include plenty of free food and drinks, including hot dogs, chips, caramel apples, apple cider and popcorn. Kids can decorate pumpkins and get their own faces painted. Adults will fall for the prizes and giveaways, including Broncos tickets and Elitch Gardens passes. Friday’s fest is from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Fitzsimons Branch (2201 N.
