DA Weir deserves re-election

-

Re: “Liberal PAC targets Weir,” Oct. 12 news story.

A George Soros-funded “criminal justice reform” group has spent hundreds of thousands of dollars attacking Republican District Attorney Pete Weir, who has lived in Jefferson County for 22 years and is seeking re-election. The ads are designed to help the Democratic candidate, a 2 ½-year Colorado resident who has no Colorado prosecutor experience. Weir has prosecuted cases in the district for 20 years (four as elected DA). He was director of the state’s DA’s association for five years, a district judge (appointed by Gov. Bill Owens) for 2 ½ years, and executive director of the Colorado Department of Public Safety (appointed by Gov. Bill Ritter, who supports his re-election) for 3 ½ years. Weir’s office is one of the best, if not the best, DA’s offices in Colorado. Let’s keep it that way by retaining him. Charles W. “Chuck” Heim, Westminser
