GIANTS PK BROWN KEPT HOME FROM LONDON

- The Associated Press

east rutherford, n.j.» Josh Brown’s future with the Giants and possibly the NFL is in jeopardy after police released journal entries and e-mails in which the place-kicker admitted that he repeatedly verbally and physically abused his former wife.

Just hours before New York was to leave for a game in London on Sunday against the Rams, the Giants said Brown would remain at home.

The Giants said they want to review the new information released by county law enforcement officials in Washington and reach a decision on the kicker’s future with the club, possibly next week.

The Giants said that Brown has acknowledged that he has issues in his life and has been working on these issues through therapy and counseling for a long period of time.

The team did not say who would kick against the Rams on Sunday.

Earlier in the day, the NFL announced it was reopening its investigation of Brown. The 37-year old was suspended for the opening game of the season for violating the league’s personal conduct policy relating to his arrest in May 2015 on domestic abuse charges against his former wife, Molly. He was not charged.

• Wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. returned to practice on limited basis and said he hoped to play against the Rams.

The 23-year-old Beckham missed Wednesday’s workout because of a hip pointer suffered in Sunday’s 27-23 win over the Ravens at MetLife Stadium.

Beckham said he felt better Thursday than he did Wednesday, but he refused to say that he would play in Sunday’s game at Twickenham Stadium.

Star players miss Redskins practice

B ashburn, va.» Redskins wide receiver DeSean Jackson and tight end Jordan Reed missed practice, putting their availability for Sunday’s game at Detroit in question.

Jackson, who leads Washington with 333 yards receiving, has a sore left shoulder and also sat out Wednesday.

Reed, meanwhile, still is dealing with the effects of a concussion that forced him to miss last week’s 27-20 victory over Philadelphia.

B orchard park, n.y.» LeSean McCoy was healthy enough to at least watch part of practice from the sideline, though it’s unclear whether the Bills’ top offensive threat can play at Miami on Sunday.

A person with direct knowledge of McCoy’s hamstring injury told The Associated Press the Bills running back is “a gametime decision.” The person spoke to The AP on the condition of anonymity because the Bills have not revealed their plans regarding McCoy’s playing status.

Coach Rex Ryan used the word “hopeful” in providing an update a day after McCoy left practice complaining of tightness in one of his hamstrings. Ryan declined to go into detail when asked about the severity of the injury except to say it wasn’t “full blown.”

He also said he didn’t know whether McCoy injured the same left hamstring that hampered his production last season, his first in Buffalo.
