Consider the nation’s children

- Kaitlin Whelan,

As the new administration lays their plans for the next four years, I urge them to keep in mind our country’s future, the more than 70 million children. To ensure children thrive, we must continue to support their physical and emotional well-being. Programs like Medicaid, SNAP and WIC need continued funding. It is a shame that in a country like ours, a child could be left without health care or food when their family falls to hard times. If these safetynet programs lose funding, we could see this happening more and more. Finally, we must continue to improve our education systems to provide our children with the tools they need, so they can become the next set of leaders to change the world. I hope the president and Congress will keep this in mind as they continue to work to keep America great.
