HOOSIERS LEAD ALL WAY IN WIN OVER NO. 3 TAR HEELS

bloom­ing­ton, ind.» OG Anunoby scored 16 points, James Black­mon Jr. had 14 and Robert John­son added 11 on Wed­nes­day night, lead­ing No. 13 In­di­ana past No. 3 North Carolina 76-67 in the ACC-Big Ten Chal­lenge.

The Hoosiers (5-1) have won two straight since last week’s stun­ning loss to lit­tle-known IPFW.

North Carolina (7-1), which trailed for a to­tal of 16 sec­onds dur­ing its four-game trip to Hawaii, never led and spent most of the game trail­ing by dou­ble dig­its.

The Tar Heels were led by Justin Jack­son with 21 points.

HIGH­LIGHTS

Ray Spalding and Man­gok Mathi­ang each scored 11 points and Donovan Mitchell con­trib­uted seven crit­i­cal points down the stretch to help No. 14 Louisville hold off No. 15 Pur­due 71-64 in the ACC/Big Ten Chal­lenge. Seek­ing a re­bound from their se­cond-half col­lapse against Bay­lor in the Bat­tle 4 At­lantis cham­pi­onship when they lost a 22-point lead, the Car­di­nals held Pur­due to a sea­son-low 36 per­cent shoot­ing but needed key bas­kets in the fi­nal min­utes as the Boil­er­mak­ers cut a 51-33 deficit to four with 14.4 sec­onds left. Caleb Swani­gan had 14 points and 11 re­bounds and P.J. Thomp­son had 13 points, but the Boil­er­mak­ers had their four-game win­ning streak stopped along with a con­fer­ence-record seven-game win­ning streak in the Chal­lenge. … Lon­don Per­rantes scored 15 of his 19 points in the se­cond half and No. 7 Vir­ginia over­came a sloppy per­for­mance and ral­lied past Ohio State 63-61. Devon Hall added 12 points for the Cava­liers, who trailed by as many as 16 points in the first half and didn’t take the lead for good un­til Mar­ial Shayok’s base­line runner made it 59-57 with 1:58 re­main­ing. … Re­serve King McClure scored 14 points and No. 9 Bay­lor re­mained un­beaten with a 79-45 win over Sam Hous­ton State, which came in av­er­ag­ing 81.7 points per game, but never got into a rhythm. Auri­mas Ma­jauskas led the Bear­kats with 13 points. … Lauri Markka­nen scored 19 points and hit five 3point­ers, help­ing No. 16 Ari­zona bounce back from its first loss of the sea­son with an 85-63 rout of Texas South­ern. … Pre­sea­son All-Amer­ica Dillon Brooks scored 21 points and Ro­man Sorkin had 15 as No. 23 Ore­gon rolled to a 93-54 vic­tory over West­ern Ore­gon. The Ducks won their 29th.

Women

boul­der» Kennedy Leonard scored 19 points and No. 21 Colorado had seven play­ers score in dou­ble fig­ures in a 112-54 vic­tory over South­east­ern Louisiana.

It was just Colorado’s se­cond 100-point game in 15 years, and tied for the fifth-high­est-scor­ing game in pro­gram his­tory.

Sopho­more guard Ari­ana Free­man came off the bench to match Leonard for game-high scor­ing hon­ors with 19 points. Guard Alexis Robin­son and cen­ter Zoe Cor­real scored 11 points apiece.

The Buffs en­tered The As­so­ci­ated Press poll this week for its first na­tional rank­ing since Jan. 13, 2014.

CU (7-0), which beat No. 17 Ken­tucky 79-69 this month, blocked 16 shots against SE Louisiana (2-4), led by Char­liee Du­gas’ 12 points.

Nicole Ekhomu scored 16 points and Ivey Slaugh­ter had 14 points and 10 re­bounds to help No. 8 Florida State beat Min­nesota 75-61 in the ACC/Big Ten Chal­lenge. … Lanay Montgomery scored a ca­reer-high 23 points and had 18 re­bounds and six blocks as No. 16 West Vir­ginia beat More­head State 94-53. … Jaime Nared had 16 points and 10 re­bounds be­fore sit­ting out the fourth quar­ter in No. 22 Ten­nessee’s 86-36 blowout vic­tory over Ten­nessee State. The Vols avoided their first three-game skid since Fe­bru­ary 1986.
