HOOSIERS LEAD ALL WAY IN WIN OVER NO. 3 TAR HEELS

bloomingto­n, ind.» OG Anunoby scored 16 points, James Blackmon Jr. had 14 and Robert Johnson added 11 on Wednesday night, leading No. 13 Indiana past No. 3 North Carolina 76-67 in the ACC-Big Ten Challenge.

The Hoosiers (5-1) have won two straight since last week’s stunning loss to little-known IPFW.

North Carolina (7-1), which trailed for a total of 16 seconds during its four-game trip to Hawaii, never led and spent most of the game trailing by double digits.

The Tar Heels were led by Justin Jackson with 21 points.

HIGHLIGHTS

Ray Spalding and Mangok Mathiang each scored 11 points and Donovan Mitchell contribute­d seven critical points down the stretch to help No. 14 Louisville hold off No. 15 Purdue 71-64 in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. Seeking a rebound from their second-half collapse against Baylor in the Battle 4 Atlantis championsh­ip when they lost a 22-point lead, the Cardinals held Purdue to a season-low 36 percent shooting but needed key baskets in the final minutes as the Boilermake­rs cut a 51-33 deficit to four with 14.4 seconds left. Caleb Swanigan had 14 points and 11 rebounds and P.J. Thompson had 13 points, but the Boilermake­rs had their four-game winning streak stopped along with a conference-record seven-game winning streak in the Challenge. … London Perrantes scored 15 of his 19 points in the second half and No. 7 Virginia overcame a sloppy performanc­e and rallied past Ohio State 63-61. Devon Hall added 12 points for the Cavaliers, who trailed by as many as 16 points in the first half and didn’t take the lead for good until Marial Shayok’s baseline runner made it 59-57 with 1:58 remaining. … Reserve King McClure scored 14 points and No. 9 Baylor remained unbeaten with a 79-45 win over Sam Houston State, which came in averaging 81.7 points per game, but never got into a rhythm. Aurimas Majauskas led the Bearkats with 13 points. … Lauri Markkanen scored 19 points and hit five 3pointers, helping No. 16 Arizona bounce back from its first loss of the season with an 85-63 rout of Texas Southern. … Preseason All-America Dillon Brooks scored 21 points and Roman Sorkin had 15 as No. 23 Oregon rolled to a 93-54 victory over Western Oregon. The Ducks won their 29th.

Women

boulder» Kennedy Leonard scored 19 points and No. 21 Colorado had seven players score in double figures in a 112-54 victory over Southeaste­rn Louisiana.

It was just Colorado’s second 100-point game in 15 years, and tied for the fifth-highest-scoring game in program history.

Sophomore guard Ariana Freeman came off the bench to match Leonard for game-high scoring honors with 19 points. Guard Alexis Robinson and center Zoe Correal scored 11 points apiece.

The Buffs entered The Associated Press poll this week for its first national ranking since Jan. 13, 2014.

CU (7-0), which beat No. 17 Kentucky 79-69 this month, blocked 16 shots against SE Louisiana (2-4), led by Charliee Dugas’ 12 points.

Nicole Ekhomu scored 16 points and Ivey Slaughter had 14 points and 10 rebounds to help No. 8 Florida State beat Minnesota 75-61 in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge. … Lanay Montgomery scored a career-high 23 points and had 18 rebounds and six blocks as No. 16 West Virginia beat Morehead State 94-53. … Jaime Nared had 16 points and 10 rebounds before sitting out the fourth quarter in No. 22 Tennessee’s 86-36 blowout victory over Tennessee State. The Vols avoided their first three-game skid since February 1986.
