MAN GETS LIFE FOR KILLING ROOMMATE

A 39-year-old man has been sentenced to life in prison without the possibilit­y of parole for stabbing his roommate in the heart and then dumping his body in Commerce City last year, prosecutor­s say.

Mark Antonio Lewis was convicted Friday of first-degree murder and evidence tampering in the death of 56-year-old Forrest Paskins. The 17th Judicial District Attorney’s Office says Lewis stabbed Paskins during an argument.

Woman gets probation for fatal road-rage crash.

A Frederick woman was sentenced Friday to 12 years probation for her role in a road-rage crash that killed two people and left her paralyzed from the neck down.

Nacole Lee Grim, 30, was convicted in October by a Weld County jury on two counts of vehicular homicide caused by reckless driving and one count of third-degree assault.

On April 15, 2015, Grim was driving a GMC Envoy southbound on Interstate 25 near Mead when she lost control, overcorrec­ted and smashed through a cable barrier into oncoming traffic. The subsequent crash killed Dang Many “Dani” Mantkhong, 34, of Parker, and Andrea Weiss, 39, of Fort Collins.

Grim also was ordered to give 100 presentati­ons on the impacts of road rage, including how it affected the victims and herself.

Man gets life for “ambush” murder.

A Broomfield man was convicted of first-degree murder Friday and sentenced to life in prison without the possibilit­y of parole for ambushing an unarmed man out of jealousy, prosecutor­s said.

Matthew Britton, 55, was convicted in the shooting death of Kobe Wiley last year inside Britton’s Broomfield home.

Wiley was shot five times in the back of the head, once at close range, according to the Broomfield County District Attorney’s Office.

Richard “Chuco” Santiago, 56, pleaded guilty to first-degree murder and murder by a life prisoner on Thursday in U.S. District Court in Denver as part of a plea deal to avoid a possible death sentence in the beating death of Manuel “Tati” Torrez at the Administra­tive Maximum U.S. Penitentia­ry (known as Supermax) in Florence.

U.S. District Judge Robert Blackburn immediatel­y sentenced Santiago to life in prison. Santiago already is serving life in prison for prior prison murders.

Colorado man killed in Oklahoma. A 78-year-old

Colorado man was shot and killed Wednesday night in an Oklahoma town, authoritie­s say.

Roy Lee Weeaks, of Centennial, died during an altercatio­n in Cordell, Okla., according to the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigat­ion.
