GILBERT NAMED ALL-AMERICAN

boulder» University of Colorado linebacker Jimmie Gilbert was named to The Associated Press allAmerica team Monday.

Gilbert, who was a thirdteam selection, becomes the first Buffalo to be named an AP All-American since 2011.

Gilbert this season had 10½ sacks and 51 tackles and forced six fumbles. He tied for second among all Football Bowl Subdivisio­n players for the most forced fumbles this season.

Linebacker Kenneth Olugbode, who had 130 tackles this season, by CU’s count that uses coaches film, was a second-team All-America selection by Pro Football Focus.

Kiffin headed to FAU.

Alabama offensive coordinato­r Lane Kiffin agreed to become Florida Atlantic’s next football coach.

Kiffin had been in talks with the Conference USA school since Friday. At one point, negotiatio­ns between the two sides stalled, but a deal was struck early Monday morning.

Kiffin will remain Alabama’s offensive coordinato­r throughout the College Football Playoff, Crimson Tide head coach Nick Saban confirmed.
