new york» Desi Ro­driguez made a tiebreak­ing layup with 11.6 sec­onds left, lift­ing Se­ton Hall over No. 16 South Carolina 67-64 in the Un­der Ar­mour Re­union at Madi­son Square Gar­den on Mon­day night.

The Pi­rates went ahead when Ro­driguez took an in­bound pass from Khadeen Car­ring­ton and drove along the base­line for the layup. PJ Dozier then missed a 3-pointer for the Game­cocks, and Myles Pow­ell knocked down one free throw for Se­ton Hall.

The Pi­rates trailed by nine early in the sec­ond half be­fore ral­ly­ing. Car­ring­ton led Se­ton Hall with 21 points af­ter miss­ing his first five shots.

Dozier scored 20 points for South Carolina, which shot 38.6 per­cent and was outscored 40-30 in the fi­nal 20 min­utes.

Nik Popovic tipped in a missed layup by Ky Bow­man with two-tenths of a sec­ond re­main­ing to lift Bos­ton Col­lege to a 72-71 win over Auburn in the Un­der Ar­mour Re­union at Madi­son Square Gar­den. … Jah­mal McMur­ray scored 20 points, in­clud­ing a pair of free throws that put the game out of reach with five sec­onds left, and South Florida slipped past Bethune-Cook­man for a 79-73 over­time win. Mid­way through the ex­tra pe­riod, South Florida got a jumper from McMur­ray that sparked a 7-0 spurt and gave the Bulls their first lead since late in reg­u­la­tion at 75-70.

Women

bal­ti­more» Bri­onna Jones had 25 points and 14 re­bounds, help­ing No. 4 Mary­land to an­other dom­i­nant win over in-state foe Loy­ola, 79-60. Sha­tori Walker-Kim­brough added 17 points for Mary­land, which has started the sea­son 11-0 for the sec­ond con­sec­u­tive year. The Ter­rap­ins scored 21 points off 23 turnovers.

MON­DAY’S HIGHLIGHT

Fresh­man Sabrina Ionescu had her sec­ond-ca­reer triple-dou­ble, Oti Gil­don tied a ca­reer best with 16 points, on 7-of-11 shoot­ing, and No. 25 Ore­gon beat Clem­son 87-59.

FOOT­NOTE

Buffs rise to No. 15 na­tion­ally. Colorado climbed two more spots in this week’s AP top 25, ris­ing to No. 15 on Mon­day. It is the high­est rank­ing for the Buffs since 2013.
