LONG­MONT MAN HITS TREE, DIES AT BRECK­EN­RIDGE

A 48-year-old man died Mon­day in a ski­ing in­ci­dent on an ad­vanced trail at Breck­en­ridge.

The Long­mont man, iden­ti­fied by the Boul­der Daily Cam­era as Kevin Pitts, died from blunt-force trauma af­ter strik­ing a tree at the re­sort.

Pitts was taken off the moun­tain to St. An­thony Sum­mit Med­i­cal Cen­ter in Breck­en­ridge where he was pro­nounced dead.

“Breck­en­ridge Ski Re­sort, Breck­en­ridge Ski Pa­trol and the en­tire Vail Re­sorts fam­ily ex­tend our deep­est sym­pa­thy and sup­port to our guest’s fam­ily and friends,” John Buh­ler, vice pres­i­dent and chief op­er­at­ing of­fi­cer of Breck­en­ridge Ski Re­sort, said in a me­dia re­lease.
