Man ar­rested af­ter down­town dis­tur­bance. Den­ver po­lice took a man

into cus­tody Satur­day af­ter­noon af­ter a do­mes­tic in­ci­dent at the SPIRE Con­do­minium Tower Build­ing in down­town Den­ver.

Po­lice re­sponded to a call that came in around 12:20 p.m. but could not find the man, trig­ger­ing a large re­sponse from po­lice and fire as well as a re­verse 911 call en­cour­ag­ing peo­ple to stay in­side, spokesman Doug Schep­man said.

Den­ver7 said that the man was re­port­edly in his box­ers and wield­ing a pipe, run­ning around the 42-story build­ing at 891 14th St., set­ting off fire alarms and taunt­ing of­fi­cers.

The man was taken into cus­tody around 2:15 p.m. His name was not re­leased.

Champa Street be­tween 15th and 16th streets was tem­po­rar­ily blocked off but was later re­opened.
