Man arrested after downtown disturbance. Denver police took a man
into custody Saturday afternoon after a domestic incident at the SPIRE Condominium Tower Building in downtown Denver.
Police responded to a call that came in around 12:20 p.m. but could not find the man, triggering a large response from police and fire as well as a reverse 911 call encouraging people to stay inside, spokesman Doug Schepman said.
Denver7 said that the man was reportedly in his boxers and wielding a pipe, running around the 42-story building at 891 14th St., setting off fire alarms and taunting officers.
The man was taken into custody around 2:15 p.m. His name was not released.
Champa Street between 15th and 16th streets was temporarily blocked off but was later reopened.
