A screenwriter and producer is suing Walt Disney Pictures, saying he pitched an idea similar to the movie “Zootopia” to Disney in 2000 and 2009 and the studio copied his ideas without crediting him. The film features a bunny who wants to gain respect as a police officer, and its story explores issues of race and prejudice. “Zootopia” was released in early 2016 and won an Academy Award for best animated feature. Gary Goldman, whose film credits include “Total Recall,” and “Big Trouble in Little China,” accused the company of copyright infringement. Disney said Goldman’s claims are false.
