While the bands at Dillon Amphitheatre don’t attract the same amount of interest as the one in Morrison, there’s a lot to like about this little fish of an outdoor venue about 60miles east on I-70. First, if you’re awater-lover, the upto-5,000 capacity venue offers an equally breathtaking viewof Dillon Reservoir, particularly from its upper lawn. 3. Royal Gorge Bridge and Park

Cañon City’s Royal Gorge Bridge has made a lot of changes since 2013, when a fire swept through, burning 90 percent of the park. When the park reopened in 2014, it decided to take some chances. Chief among them was a new concert series, which it launched in earnest last year with a keen run of shows from bands like the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Kaleo and Blitzen Trapper. The venue is keeping its September concerts under its hat, but it has announced a couple of bands that’ll appeal to the country-rock crowd. The shows coincide with the sunsets, which are primo in the area. Bonus: A ticket to the concert also will grant you admission to the park, including a children’s park and its eponymous suspension bridge— the highest in the country— which hangs more than 1,000 feet above the Arkansas River.

Royal Gorge Bridge and Park, 4218 County Road 3A, Cañon City. 719-275-7507. Tickets via royalgorgebridge.com.
