Looking ahead

Rockies RHP Tyler Chatwood (3-6, 5.09 ERA) at Phillies RHP Jeremy Hellickson (5-1, 3.44), 5:05 p.m. Wednesday, ROOT; 850 AM

Right now, Chatwood, the most experienced starter in Colorado’s rotation, is its weakest link. Chatwood, 27, has struggled since pitching a two-hit shutout at San Francisco on April 15, going 2-4 with a 6.06 ERA in six starts. Even more disconcerting, he has walked 22 and struck out 25 over that span. Manager Bud Black said he hopes Chatwood has fixed some mechanical issues since his last start. Hellickson pitched six strong innings against the Pirates on Friday, allowing two hits and one earned run in six innings. He tweaked his lower back during an at-bat in the seven inning, but he’s good to go. Hellickson has faced the Rockies just once, in 2015 when he was pitching for Arizona. He dominated the Rockies at Chase Field, giving up one run in seven innings.
