All ac­tive-duty mil­i­tary, vet­er­ans and re­servists with proof of ser­vice en­joy a free meal on July 4 at Coun­try Pride restau­rants within Trav­elCen­ters of Amer­ica truck stops. The com­pli­men­tary meal must be se­lected from a spe­cial menu. There are two par­tic­i­pat­ing lo­ca­tions in the metro Den­ver area: Com­merce City (In­ter­state 70 and In­ter­state 270 at exit 278) and Wheat Ridge (I-70, exit 266.) There are also lo­ca­tions in Limon and Grand Junc­tion.


This sum­mer, the Pass­port pro­gram opens up a world of two-for-one drinks at 68 Den­ver restau­rants, bars, brew­eries and winer­ies. Each Den­ver Pass­port is $25, with a value of more than $350 in sav­ings. The dis­counts are valid through Sept. 4. Pick one up at Ju­dith & Joe, Queen City Gen­eral Store or Fancy Tiger. You can also pur­chase on­line, but there’s an ad­di­tional $2.95 in ship­ping. Each pass­port is valid for one twofer at each es­tab­lish­ment. (There are also Pass­ports for Boul­der, Colorado Springs and Fort Collins.)


Colorado-grown Lark­burger of­fers a daily happy hour from 3 to 5 p.m. Get any small burger for $3. It’s a sav­ings of nearly 50 per­cent, de­pend­ing on the burger. Add a small shake, small chili or beer for just $2. A fru­gal fam­ily of four can each get a burger and shake for $20. To keep costs to a min­i­mum, or­der fries for a few bucks more for all to share. Fry con­nois­seurs will ap­pre­ci­ate the truf­fle and parme­san fries. There are 12 lo­ca­tions in Colorado.
