ONE KILLED, ANOTHER INJURED IN SHOOTING

A man was killed and another is in critical condition after a shooting around York Street and East 29th Avenue at about 1 a.m. Saturday.

Both men were taken to the hospital where one later died, according to the Denver Police Department.

The police have not released suspect or victim informatio­n. No arrests have been made.

The investigat­ion is still on-going and the case is being treated as a homicide.

Escaped parolee apprehende­d. A parolee with a history of sexual assault on a child has been apprehende­d after he ditched his ankle monitor and fled parole supervisio­n earlier this week.

Robert Jake Chavez, 38, is classified as a sexually violent predator, according to the Colorado Department of Correction­s.

He was taken into custody again late Friday night.

Two children missing from Elizabeth area. ELBERT COUNTY» Two children are missing from the Elizabeth area and authoritie­s are asking for the public’s help in finding the pair.

Jordan Jackson, 14, and McKayla Jackson, 9, were last seen at about 2 p.m. Friday in Evans Park in Elizabeth, according to the Elbert County Sheriff’s Office.

Investigat­ors say a dark blue Honda 4-door sedan with tinted windows and dark rims was seen leaving the park about the same time the children went missing.

McKayla has autism and functions at the age level of a 5- to 6-year-old.

Jordan is about 5 feet, 2 inches tall and weighs about 95 pounds. He was wearing jeans and black hightops. McKayla is about 4-10 tall and weighs about 120 pounds. She was wearing blue jeans.

Anyone who knows the children’s whereabout­s, or who believes they may have seen them, is asked to call 911 or the sheriff’s office at 303-6607500.

Juvenile arrested after machete attack. COLORADO SPRINGS» A juvenile attacked a man with a machete in the early hours of Saturday morning in Colorado Springs, causing severe but non-life-threatenin­g injuries.

Colorado Springs police arrived at the house near Drennan Road and Hancock Expressway just before 2:30 a.m. Officers arrested the juvenile on charges of first-degree assault. The victim’s name has not been released.
