A man was killed and an­other is in crit­i­cal con­di­tion after a shoot­ing around York Street and East 29th Av­enue at about 1 a.m. Satur­day.

Both men were taken to the hos­pi­tal where one later died, ac­cord­ing to the Den­ver Po­lice Depart­ment.

The po­lice have not re­leased sus­pect or vic­tim in­for­ma­tion. No ar­rests have been made.

The in­ves­ti­ga­tion is still on-go­ing and the case is be­ing treated as a homi­cide.

Es­caped parolee ap­pre­hended. A parolee with a his­tory of sex­ual as­sault on a child has been ap­pre­hended after he ditched his an­kle mon­i­tor and fled pa­role su­per­vi­sion ear­lier this week.

Robert Jake Chavez, 38, is clas­si­fied as a sex­u­ally vi­o­lent preda­tor, ac­cord­ing to the Colorado Depart­ment of Cor­rec­tions.

He was taken into cus­tody again late Fri­day night.

Two chil­dren miss­ing from El­iz­a­beth area. ELBERT COUNTY» Two chil­dren are miss­ing from the El­iz­a­beth area and au­thor­i­ties are ask­ing for the pub­lic’s help in find­ing the pair.

Jor­dan Jack­son, 14, and McKayla Jack­son, 9, were last seen at about 2 p.m. Fri­day in Evans Park in El­iz­a­beth, ac­cord­ing to the Elbert County Sher­iff’s Of­fice.

In­ves­ti­ga­tors say a dark blue Honda 4-door sedan with tinted win­dows and dark rims was seen leav­ing the park about the same time the chil­dren went miss­ing.

McKayla has autism and func­tions at the age level of a 5- to 6-year-old.

Jor­dan is about 5 feet, 2 inches tall and weighs about 95 pounds. He was wear­ing jeans and black high­tops. McKayla is about 4-10 tall and weighs about 120 pounds. She was wear­ing blue jeans.

Any­one who knows the chil­dren’s where­abouts, or who be­lieves they may have seen them, is asked to call 911 or the sher­iff’s of­fice at 303-6607500.

Ju­ve­nile ar­rested after ma­chete at­tack. COLORADO SPRINGS» A ju­ve­nile at­tacked a man with a ma­chete in the early hours of Satur­day morn­ing in Colorado Springs, caus­ing se­vere but non-life-threat­en­ing in­juries.

Colorado Springs po­lice ar­rived at the house near Dren­nan Road and Han­cock Ex­press­way just be­fore 2:30 a.m. Of­fi­cers ar­rested the ju­ve­nile on charges of first-de­gree as­sault. The vic­tim’s name has not been re­leased.
