2 killed in sep­a­rate of­fi­cer-in­volved shoot­ings

Two men died while flee­ing from law en­force­ment in sep­a­rate of­fi­cer-in­volved shoot­ings Fri­day night.

West­min­ster po­lice shot and killed a man at about 6:40 p.m. on West 68th Av­enue near Low­ell Boule­vard. Of­fi­cers rec­og­nized the man as one with sev­eral war­rants so ap­proached him. The man ran to a car and then dis­played a weapon when of­fi­cers ap­proached.

Sev­eral of­fi­cers fired and the man died at the scene.

Later around 7:30 p.m., a man was shot while flee­ing Larimer County sher­iff’s of­fi­cers in a field near Highway 392 and County Road 9. The man died at a hos­pi­tal later in the night.

The man had fled po­lice while driv­ing a stolen ve­hi­cle and then crashed into the field be­fore get­ting out to run. Deputies fired and one shot the man.

Nei­ther the men’s nor of­fi­cer’s names have been re­leased.
