2 killed in separate officer-involved shootings

Two men died while fleeing from law enforcemen­t in separate officer-involved shootings Friday night.

Westminste­r police shot and killed a man at about 6:40 p.m. on West 68th Avenue near Lowell Boulevard. Officers recognized the man as one with several warrants so approached him. The man ran to a car and then displayed a weapon when officers approached.

Several officers fired and the man died at the scene.

Later around 7:30 p.m., a man was shot while fleeing Larimer County sheriff’s officers in a field near Highway 392 and County Road 9. The man died at a hospital later in the night.

The man had fled police while driving a stolen vehicle and then crashed into the field before getting out to run. Deputies fired and one shot the man.

Neither the men’s nor officer’s names have been released.
