Man found trapped in interstate drain
Denver firefighters responded to an unusual call Friday night. A man was trapped in a storm drain under northbound lanes of Interstate 25.
Firefighters were able to pull up the grate and safely remove the man.
Slow rush hour traffic and an alert driver helped lead to the rescue, said Capt. Greg Pixley, a Denver Fire Department spokesman. A driver, going at a low speed in heavy traffic, with his window down, heard cries for “help,” Pixley said. The driver was trying to determine where the cries were coming from when he spotted fingers wiggling through grates of a storm drain.
