The Rockies used Thursday’s off day to bump Hoffman up one spot in the rotation. He will pitch on regular rest in place of Tyler Chatwood, who remains on the disabled list with a strained calf muscle. Hoffman has come back to earth a bit after a sky-high start in which he allowed a run or fewer in four of his first five starts. But he lasted at least six innings in his past four starts, including two at Coors Field, where he gave up seven total runs in 14 innings. Both pitchers will be facing their opponents for the first time.
