FIREFIGHTERS FIND BODY IN ELEVATOR SHAFT
A tenant at a Denver apartment complex where a decomposing body was found in a parking-garage elevator shaft said she smelled the rotting corpse but had no idea what it was.
“It was a really bad smell,” said Etu Seiecamo, 29, who lives yards from where the as-yet-unidentified man’s body was found. “I thought maybe it was somebody’s food.”
Denver firefighters found the man’s body Monday at the Woodstream Village apartments on East Harvard Avenue, said Capt. Greg Pixley.
The complex at 10050 East Harvard Ave. is managed by Greystar Property Management. Denver7 first reported news about the body.
Only two of about a dozen residents interviewed Wednesday were aware a body had been found in the complex. Sarah Ames, 22, said she heard the news Tuesday night, when her roommate called her. “I am going to the leasing office to see if I can break the lease.”
