Buffs re­ceive 72 points in early coaches’ poll

The Univer­sity of Colorado and Colorado State foot­ball teams re­ceived votes in the pre­sea­son col­lege foot­ball coaches poll that was re­vealed Thurs­day.

The Buffs, who fin­ished last sea­son with a 10-4 record and berths in the Pac12 Cham­pi­onship game and Alamo Bowl, re­ceived 72 points in the poll, plac­ing them two spots be­hind No. 25 Utah (109 points). Sit­ting be­tween CU and the Utes was Pac-12 North foe Wash­ing­ton State (99 points).

The Rams re­ceived one point, mean­ing one of the coach­ing poll­sters voted them as the pre­sea­son No. 25 team in the coun­try. CSU, which will en­ter its third sea­son un­der coach Mike Bobo when the sea­son kicks off at home Aug. 26 against Ore­gon State, went 7-6 in 2016 with an ap­pear­ance in the Potato Bowl.
