COMMERCE CITY» The Rapids’ winless streak reached four Saturday night with a 2-2 draw against the Vancouver Whitecaps FC on Saturday night at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park.

Colorado (6-12-3), which remains in last place in the Western Conference, is now 6-4-2 at home.

It was the Whitecaps who found the back of the net within minutes of the opening kick.

With heavy wind and rain on hand, Vancouver’s Tony Tchani delivered a strike past Tim Howard from outside the box 5 minutes into the game. But Rapids defender Axel Sjöberg found the equalizer just 10 minutes later — his first of 2017 and third of his career. Off a high ball from Micheal Azira into the danger area, Sjöberg managed to sneak to the back post and score between the legs of Whitecaps keeper David Ousted.

The Rapids were the aggressors in the second half. It was Kevin Doyle who scored on a counterattack in the 54th minute off a backheel pass from Marlon Hairston.

But Colorado’s hopes for three points was snapped by striker Freddy Montero, who headed a free kick into the net to equalize the game in the 76th minute.
