PETITION SEEKS REINSTATEMENT OF USC KICKER

- — The Associated Press

A petition on behalf of expelled USC kicker Matt Boermeester was filed in Los Angeles Superior Court this month seeking to reinstate him to the university.

Boermeester, who is two classes shy of graduation, was kicked out of school last month after a months-long investigation by the school’s Title IX office that concluded he caused physical harm to his girlfriend, USC tennis player Zoe Katz, in January.

Katz has vehemently denied the allegations.

“I want to be clear that I have never been abused, assaulted or otherwise mistreated by Matt,” Katz said in a statement last month. “He is an incredible person, and I am and have been 100 percent behind him. Nothing happened that warranted an investigation, much less the unfair, biased and drawn-out process that we have been forced to endure quietly.”

Three players in trouble.

North Carolina State dismissed two football players and suspended three others after an investigation found they were at an on-campus party in July where alcohol and marijuana were involved.

Freshmen Antoine Thompson and Kevince Brown were kicked off the team, and freshmen Isaiah Moore, Erin Collins and Xavier Lyas have been suspended for violation of the student-athlete code of conduct and team rules.
