FORMER MLB GM KLEIN DIES AFTER HEART SURGERY

PHILADELPH­IA» Joe Klein, who was a general manager for three Major League Baseball teams before spending the last two decades as executive director of the independen­t Atlantic League, has died. He was 75.

The Atlantic League said Klein died Wednesday at Temple University Hospital after complicati­ons from heart surgery.

Klein had been with the league since its inception in 1997, when he became executive director a year before teams started play.

Red Sox get OF Davis in trade with A’s.

CLEVELAND» The AL East-leading Red Sox boosted their outfield depth by acquiring speedy Rajai Davis from the Athletics for a minor-league outfielder.

The Red Sox sent 18-yearold Rafael Rincones to the last-place A’s. Hours earlier, Boston put center fielder Jackie Bradley Jr. on the 10day disabled list because of a sprained left thumb.

Cards’ Rosenthal to have Tommy John surgery.

LOUIS» The Cardinals announced closer Trevor Rosenthal was being moved from the 10-day disabled list to the 60-day DL and that the right elbow injury would require Tommy John surgery.
