CAMBODIAN OPPOSITION LEADER SEIZED

Police in Cambodia arrested the leader of the country’s main opposition party in a surprise raid on his home early Sunday, and the government issued a statement shortly afterward accusing him of treason.

Opposition leader Kem Sokha was taken away in handcuffs after more than 100 officers arrived at his home around midnight in the capital, Phnom Penh, according to his daughter, Monovithya Kem.

Monovithya, who is also a member of the Cambodia National Rescue Party, said on Twitter that police did not have a warrant for her father’s arrest.

Soccer match benefits fire victims.

Stars from the entertainm­ent and sports worlds played a soccer match in London to benefit victims of the high-rise apartment building fire that claimed more than 80 lives in June.

The game was played Saturday before a sellout crowd at the Loftus Road stadium, only 1 mile from the burned-out Grenfell Tower.

Running legend Mo Farah, Mumford & Sons frontman Marcus Mumford, actor Jamie Dornan, singer Olly Murs and Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho were among those participat­ing in the celebrity match.

Suspects ID’D in attack.

Italian media say that a transgende­r rape victim has identified as being among her attackers two Moroccan teenagers who also are suspected of raping a Polish tourist.

Italian state television and the ANSA news agency say the Peruvian woman identified the pair, who are brothers, on Saturday at the police station in the Adriatic resort town of Rimini.

She reported being assaulted and raped along a road there shortly after a gang of four allegedly raped a Polish tourist on a Rimini beach.

Italian broadcaste­r Sky TG24 says the suspects are 15 and 17 years old.

Tom Jones postpones tour. LONDON» Longtime entertaine­r Tom Jones announced Saturday that he was reluctantl­y postponing a U.S. concert tour scheduled to kick off next week because of health issues.

The 77-year-old Welsh crooner said on Twitter that his fall tour would be delayed “following medical advice. He did not reveal the state of his health or provide further details.

Jones sent his “sincere apologies” to U.S. fans planning to attend the shows, which included a Sept. 19 stop in Denver. A statement on his website said the reschedule­d tour would take place in May and June of next year and that tickets for the postponed shows would be honored.

Madonna moves to Portugal. YORK» Madonna

NEW is heading overseas to a new home in Portugal.

The Michigan native had been living in New York. She said Saturday on Instagram that she finds the energy of Portugal inspiring, and it makes her feel creative and alive.

A spokesman for the singer said she fell in love with the country after ending a tour there in 2004. Madonna posted that she’ll be working on a film and new music in Portugal.

She said in her Instagram post: “It’s time to conquer the world from a different vantage point.”
