An insulting focus on Melania Trump’s heels on trip to Texas

- Re: Jim Deloughry, Judy Fournier,

“There was no pretense about Melania Trump’s heels,” Aug. 31 fashion commentary.

Reprinting an insulting Washington Post article mocking Melania Trump’s heels has got to be a new low for The Denver Post. Exactly how newsworthy was it to focus on what she wore to get on a helicopter, other than to mock, shame and demean her? Does your distaste for everything Trump really justify one-third of a page devoted to trashing her footwear, including a photo of her shoe?

I am finding your loathing of this president so overwhelming that it is now hard to even read the leisure section. Perhaps all this attention hides a secret envy of a stately and elegant first lady who has harmed no one and performs her duties with dignity and class.

I find that the commentary that was printed in The Denver Post written by Robin Givhan of The Washington Post regarding the footwear worn by our first lady to be in extremely poor taste. In times of a disaster of epic proportions, a focus on the attire of the first lady is missing the mark entirely. The public would better be served by reporting the pre-planning to deal with the disaster, the coming together of the citizens of Texas and now the entire country, or the disaster itself. Such reporting about someone’s shoes is so “high school” and has no place in the adult world.
